Professional Diploma in Early Childhood Education (ECE)

The Meadow Hall Professional Diploma in Early Childhood Education (ECE) programme is a specialised nine (9) month weekend virtual programme designed for early years practitioners, early years leaders or fresh graduates who desire to be equipped with the comprehensive skills required to teach children from 0-8 years through contemporary pedagogies in order to develop an in-depth education and practical experience in early childhood education.

This diploma programme is ideal for those who wish to pursue a career in Early Childhood as well as those who work with young children and their families.

The course comprises of 13 modules (units) conducted within 36 weeks (9 months) of 20 lecture weeks and 16 weeks of practicum. The 20-week lectures consist of a 2 hour lecture per week and 1 hour reading time per week. Students are expected to commit 3 hours per week for this programme.

The programme is delivered virtually (online) through a variety of engaging, interactive and hands-on modes which include small group discussions, projects and role-play. Assessments will be based on students’ performance through written assignments, presentations or micro teaching. Assignment based assessments may require about 500 words per course and the end of programme assessment ‘term paper’ may require about 5000 words.

Students must pass all prescribed modules and practicum and fulfil all requirements for graduation. Please refer to Student Handbook for more details. Students who successfully complete all modules will be awarded the ‘Professional Diploma in Early Childhood Education” by the Meadow Hall College of Education.
